New Delivery...no not a baby!

JD bought us a new washer and dryer! We were out to lunch on Sunday and he suggested we go look at washers and dryers. After a great salesman at the Home Depot told him all about this washer and dryer, JD bought them and they were delivered today! Aren't they pretty!
Our old washer and dryer weren't working great. The washer wouldn't get all the water out of the clothes and the dryer took 3 cycles to dry the clothes. Now I have a very quiet and well working set, just in time for all the laundry that will come with Baby David.

visit to the doc...

I went to the doctor this morning and I'm at 3 1/2 cm, so not much change. We set my induction date for August 11th, so unless he comes before then, that will be Baby David's birthday! I'm hoping to go before then but he might have other plans.
Thanks for all of the prayers for him to not come to early, now we can stop all of that and just pray for a safe delivery and a healthy baby. I'm sure I can make it another 2 weeks but I am getting quite uncomfortable and would love to have this baby in my arms now!
So for now, there isn't going to be any really exciting news--unless getting our garage cleaned out or some sewing projects completed is exciting...

Happy 30th Birthday JD

Yesterday was my wonderful husband's 30th birthday! I tried to blog about it yesterday and the computer wouldn't cooperate, so I am doing it today.

It is difficult putting into words how much I love my husband and how much he means to me. He has such a great love for family and I'm so excited to see him with his son! He adores our dog Dixie so much and I love the attention he gives her each and every day. JD is a big kid at heart and he keeps me smiling and laughing all the time. He has a huge loyalty to his friends that I respect more than he knows. I love his passion for sports, especially his love for Alabama football, his love for the game of golf and his love/hate relationship with the Atlanta Braves.
JD is also a WONDERFUL dentist and has such a passion for it.
He enjoyed a great golf game with his buddies then came to hang out at the pool for a little while before we went home to rest and get ready for a group July Birthday party. We went to Hilary and Victor's and had a great assortment of chips and dips, different salads, cakes and a drunk watermelon. Below is a picture of everyone enjoying the watermelon!

Happy Birthday JD!!

No News is Good News for Everyone But Me!

I'm awake again in the middle of the night. I can't breathe, I can't sleep and these contractions won't stop. I'm contracting anywhere from 6-9 minutes at any given point in the day or night. Strong, heavy, constant contractions that don't seem to get any closer together. Between them, my son continues to move around in what seems to be a dance inside my body. His room is running out in there and I am taking the hit for it-literally. Yesterday morning he seemed to have really dropped lower. He has always been low, but seems to be extremely low now. My belly doesn't look like I'm hiding a basketball anymore either. It looks more like I'm hiding one of those cheap round balls they sell at target that are HUGE and guys love to play with while in the store. The combination of all of these things means no sleep for mommy.

On a fun note, we entered Dixie in the Hot Dogs & Cool Cats contest with the Greater Huntsville Humane Society at the Mall. They take all the entries and people can vote ($1 each vote) for their favorite picture. Winners are featured in a calendar that is sold around Christmas. So, if you live in the Huntsville area, or are going to come visit (when David is born) head down to Parkway Place mall and Vote for our crazy dog Dixie!!

Waiting

I'm not very good at this waiting game. I am so ready for David to come I just can't stand it. I have done a lot of walking and shopping with Mom and still nothing. I am still contracting like crazy but it doesn't seem to progress enough for me to go back to the hospital. The contractions aren't close enough together nor are they regular so they just make me really uncomfortable and not able to sleep. I went to bed last night around 9:30 and woke up at 3am wide awake with contractions and the urge to go to the bathroom every few minutes. With my mom and JD here, I can't do very much besides watch the weather channel, listen to it rain on the roof and smock. I'm hoping to go back to sleep for at least a little while when Mom wakes up.
Another difficult part of this waiting game is hearing that other people are having their baby. I guess I'm just really jealous that they can see their baby's face and hold them, while mine just hangs out upside down. I really feel like I'm ready for all of this to happen. I was scared on Saturday, not sure what was going to happen but once I was there and hooked up, I was ready to go, ready to meet this little guy. Now, I don't feel those same hesitations that I felt then. I know that God put me on this earth to be a mom. I have always wanted kids and can't wait to experience the love and joy of having my own.
I guess I will just have to wait a little bit longer...

Progress has been made!!

I went to the doctor yesterday (seems like I say that all the time!) and Baby David and I are further along in the process. I am 3cm and 100% which means it could be any day now! My belly measures 37 weeks and my doctor says that he weighs at least 6 or 6 1/2 lbs! Believe it too, because I feel every ounce of that kid and his bony butt and super long legs! I left the doctors office feeling great! I think knowing that the end of being pregnant is in sight and I'm that much closer to holding my baby boy in my arms made me feel like I was on cloud 9.
I made fresh squeezed lemonade and brownies for JD, then decided we wanted to go to concert in the park. JD & Ben drove while Jamie and I decided to walk to the park from my house. 1.7 miles and it didn't take us that long either. It felt great outside last night and the walk was much needed.
This morning I'm working on getting my house a little cleaned up because my MOM is coming!! I'm so excited! The last time I saw my mom was the beginning of June, so needless to say I'm well overdue for a Mom visit! Maybe, just maybe, David will decide to come while she is here!
I'll keep this blog updated on any big news that might happen in the next few days also!

False Alarm

Last night we had a false alarm. I was contracting heavily every 5 minutes and having sharp shooting pains in between so after a few hours, JD and I decided to go to the hospital. The nurse checked me and got me on the monitors then called the OB on call (my doctor is out of town this weekend) I was still 2 cm but now at 80% thinned. They pumped 2 large bags of fluid in me via IV then checked me again 2 hours later. I didn't make any change so they sent us home at 3 am -still contracting but not in full blown labor. I guess this is the new normal for me because I'm still contracting this morning, still uncomfortable but not in active labor. Lucky for me I have plenty of computer work to do (photo editing and order & ad emails for IMP) and I have a bishop dress to smock (ML it is going to be SO freakin cute!). Feet up and hanging out is my new agenda.

Doctor Visit

I went to the doctors office today and after waiting for an hour in the waiting room, they hooked me up to the monitor (Fetal Non-Stress Test). I was still contracting and the doctor came in a checked my cervix. A little over 2cm but thinning (30%), which means progress. She said his head was even lower. So, again we aren't sure when he is going to make his grand appearance but I don't think we will make it to August 24th, which is a very good thing. I feel like I'm about to pop. The best thing is I don't have to claim my "limited activity" status anymore. It would be best if I went to 36 weeks but if he came now he would be just fine. I just can't wait to see his face and hold him in my arms. And I know you can't wait to see pictures instead of random blogs about the dog and my sewing projects. Soon enough, soon enough...

Boys, Boys and One more Boy...

I started to blog about the people in David's life and didn't get past my brother Daniel and My Dad, so I am doing one big post for my family all in one! Once I realized that my brothers actually read this thing, I felt like I needed to mention them, and I'm sure once David is here there will be plenty of Uncle pictures to post but for now, I had to resort to stealing pictures off Facebook because my new computer doesn't have all the pictures that the old computer had.

So, Here it goes...
A token Family picture to give everyone an idea of how blessed David is going to be!

Uncle Brooks...
This isn't the picture of Brooks I REALLY wanted to post, but he told me that picture was not to be posted on my blog, so this picture is from last Thanksgiving, when his dog Frank was just a puppy. Brooks is a lawyer in Meridian. He and I are 2 years apart and went to college together at Birmingham-Southern. He then went on to the University of Alabama's law school then to the University of Florida to get his Masters in Tax Law. He is going to be a great uncle to David.
Daniel & Allyson
I know I already blogged about Uncle Daniel but I didn't mention his beautiful wife Allyson. Daniel and Allyson met out in Wyoming on a ranch they both worked out. She is originally from North Carolina but has made her home in Meridian now with Daniel. They got engaged about 6 months after JD and I did and got married the following October. They have 2 dogs. Elmer and Eli. They love taking fun trips (Allyson just got back from Alaska). Allyson has also just gotten into photography and has started a blog (listed in my blog list to the right)
I can't wait to share David with Dan & Al!

Uncle Thad
Uncle Thad lives in Oxford and is finishing up his last year at Ole Miss. I think when he graduates he will have 2 majors and 2 minors and an extra football season under his belt. He has a fun little dog Loki who has some funny stories under his belt, especially when it comes to JD, beer and popcorn! I know that Uncle Thad can't wait for Baby David to get here!

Uncle Henry
(on the right)
Last but certainly not least is Uncle Henry. He is starting his sophomore year at Ole Miss in the fall. We are hoping he decides on dentistry as his chosen field. Henry is the ultimate definition of a Frat boy, even living in the Sigma Chi house in the fall. I hope he knows how nasty that place will get! I know Uncle Henry will be crazy about Baby David and think it is really weird that his sister has a kid!

Just an update...

I haven't blogged in a few days and just wanted to give an update. I went back to the doctor on Monday. They hooked me up to the monitor and of course, I was contracting. She checked me and my cervix is still at 2cm, but the baby's head is lower. She said if I went 12-18 hours without contractions that he would come back up but it is obvious that I can't go that long without contractions so his head just moves on down. Therefore, she doesn't have a clue as to when he is going to come. She just said to make sure they call her when I'm at the hospital and in active labor! She also said that he feels like he is a good size. So we might be close to 5 lbs now!
On another note, I did learn from my short stay in the hospital to expect him at any point and to have my bags ready. So I have gotten together a list and have packed most of what I will need. That way all I have to do is grab the bags and go. I also have the car seat installed in the car (professionally done by the Huntsville Area Safe Kids). I need to prepare my email list to notify friends and family of when I'm headed to the hospital, and I need to prepare my text list also. Other than that, I'm good. We are ready to go when it comes to the hospital and having this baby. I promise to take pictures of David's room soon and post them. It is all ready for him to come home!

Maternity Photo Shoot

We had our Maternity photo shoot the other day and it went great! I thought it would be really hot but we went up on top of the mountain to The Ledges and it was really cool and breezy. The pictures were taken in JD's parents backyard, Hole#8 on the course, and at the gazebo.
Check out the link to the right. The password to view the pictures is belly. Hope you enjoy them as much as I did.
Also, the wonderful photographer behind the camera is my friend Jamie's sister, Lindsey Lingenfelter with Linden Tree Photography out of La Grange, GA.

Sitting and Sewing

Now that I'm really at home, I'm sitting and sewing/smocking. I have finished 2 outfits.

The one below, I made for my friend Tracy's little girl Avery. (Peanut on my side bar of blogs)
I just finished it last night and I'm really glad to be done with it so I can move onto my next project!

I also finished this outfit for David a few days ago.

Speaking of new projects: Just wait Mary Louis- I just got some super cute fabric from Etsy for Curran's dress that will be coming soon!
