10 Months!

I can't believe David is 10 months old today. It is hard to believe I was relaxing at the pool just hoping he wouldn't come to early last year and now I'm chasing a crazy busy little boy!
I haven't updated about all of David's new milestones but he has in fact, advanced a lot in the last few weeks.
David is crawling now. He is all over the place and into everything. He is a speed crawler now too. If I'm not watching him closely he is headed straight for Dixie's dog bowls! He is picking up his legs and trying to stand up. He is pulling up on a few things, where he feels comfortable and he loves to hold your hands and walk around. It won't be too long before the boy is running everywhere!
David has said his first word. He says Mama, or rather screams it when he wants something, but he will look right at me and say it so I will either hold him or feed him one! He also says baba for bottle but not too often. Now he has just figured out he can just say Mama over and over again until he gets what he wants.
David has a tooth! He has his first tooth already broken through and another one that will show white in the next day or so.
He is eating and eating and eating! The boy is like a vacuum cleaner! He still eats some baby foods but he loves to try anything. He will chew up fried chicken, potatoes, fruit, "baby" goldfish, Mini teddy grahams, he loves the Gerber cheese puffs and yogurt melts! If we are out and he sees us eating, he wants to eat too, even if he just had a full meal!
He still loves dogs. He thinks they are hilarious! We went to visit Aunt Jensi and David thought her dog Roux was the funniest thing. He just kept on laughing. Our own dog Dixie is warming up to him more and more. Now that he is mobile, he chases her around some and she will even play back with him every once in a while.
David hates having his diaper changed & getting dressed. He takes that as time to spin around, twist and fuss as much as possible until he finally gives up and lets me finish so I will put him down and he can go about his business.
I had to lower David's mattress in his crib because of the pulling up and I now need to lower it again because I feel that he could get a little excited and figure out how to go over the side. But I think he might miss his favorite new activity. When David wakes up now, he doesn't cry, he stands up and goes over to his toy bag that is tied to the side of his crib and he throws every toy out of it onto the floor. He will do this until he has emptied it, then he cries for me to come in and get him! What a clever little kid!
Speaking of throwing things on the floor. I'm afraid he has figured out how to feed Dixie when he is in his highchair. He loves throwing things on the floor and watching her eat them. I seriously have to watch him ALL THE TIME!!
He is still wearing 12 month clothes but is starting to wear some 18 month things. His growing has slowed down though, but his weight is staying the same and he is slimming down in his mid section. All the crawling is making him skinny!
I'm sure I'm missing something but I'm tired and ready for bed. I hope you enjoyed the precious beach pictures, they are the reason I didn't do a 10 month shoot today. Just one pic from my iPhone.

Other beach pictures

All taken from Cell Phones, here are more of our adventures:
About to go to the pool. I think I over dressed him...what do you think?
Hanging out in his Awesome J&M tackle tshirt outfit!

Checking everything out at Joe Patti's. This is Grandy's favorite place at the beach! We had to drive over to Pensacola just to get him a gallon of oysters & some crab claws!
Jamie got some fish and shrimp to take back with her too!

Checking out Joe's big boat!

On our way back we stopped at Jennifer's Antiques to see if we could dig up a great find. The only thing we found that we loved were these old carousel animals that had been made into huge rockers. They were awesome, and expensive!

And Jamie took this picture of David when we were out to eat. He had eaten enough refried beans and was lounging back in his highchair!

Beach Trip (lots of pics)

Last weekend, Jamie & I took David to the beach for the weekend. The boys were at a bachelor party so we decided to head to the beach!
Here we are on the back porch enjoying the view of Ole River
We went to eat at Cosmos, which was wonderful! David was entertained the entire time by the live music. Notice the band behind him. He was turned completely around the entire time we ate.
We went on the beach and David was instantly a beach bum! Being the weird Mom that I am, I toook a huge blanket and made David sit on it for most of the time we were out there. I guess because I don't really like sand, I don't want my child covered in it either.

His first time in the Gulf (above) & a sweet moment with his momma!
The sun, sand and surf wore this baby out!

And after a quick power nap, he was at it again!

(BTW, when I did put him in the sand, he stared at it and felt it for a while before he, of course, put it in his mouth!)
We headed to the pool to finish getting the sand off!
David Loves his float!

David even got to hang out with his Uncle Daniel and Aunt Allyson, who were also down at the house with some friends!

And I had to take David and do a beach photoshoot too! Enjoy these pics! He is one beautiful baby!

And one last shot with his Momma!
(We did other fun things and I have those pictures somewhere else, hopefully another post soon)

The Ultimate Southern Bridesmaids Luncheon

On Friday, My Mom and several of her friends and I threw a fabulous Southern Bridesmaid's Luncheon for our friend Elizabeth Entrekin on the day before her wedding. The tables were set with my late grandmother's elaborate collection of Old Country Roses China, and a collection of silver that was my mothers, Jan William's, and my inherited set.
Each of the bridesmaids chairs was tied with a tulle bow with the brides being a little bit special including a pink ribbon and a collection of tulips, ferns and other greenery.

My Mother's extra large dining/living room was perfect to set the tables of service for 20.
The Menu came straight from the "Southern Party Queen" herself, Patty Roper, editor of Mississippi Magazine and author of several "Party" cookbooks.

Appetizers and Summer Breezes out in the sun room
A plates were absolutely beautiful, even down to the wedding bell shaped butter on the bread and butter plate!
My sister-in-law, Allyson Hooper created these beautiful "Miniature Wedding Cakes" for each of the guests. They were Divine!

Trip to Meridian

I know that if I don't sit down and do this right now, I won't get it done. There are so many things that need to be done around my house before we leave for the beach THIS AFTERNOON, but David is napping and I'm blogging!
Our trip to Meridian was an extremely busy one. I don't think I sat down very much because if I wasn't doing something for the wedding or shower, I was chasing David around! We had a great time getting to see all of my brothers and David's Uncles. We got to hang out with all of their dogs too! Thad was at home with Loki, Henry was home with his new puppy Gibson, Brooks brought Frank over and David made a special trip over to Uncle Daniel & Aunt Allyson's house and got to see Chrissy over there.
So, while we were there, David really started getting on all fours.

He also has a tooth coming in and chewed on his fingers and toys all the time.

And just for fun, what do you think he was doing in this picture?????

My Uncles...
Uncle Thad
Uncle Henry
And a special shout out to Uncle Brooks...who always reads the blog to check on Baby D.!

And, don't you want to know what I was looking at that was so interesting I wouldn't look at the camera?

Meet Gibson, Henry's Chocolate Lab puppy. He is going to be a BIG dog!

All those dogs wore David out so here he is in a rare moment these days, still and snuggling with his YaYa!

While there I also helped give my sister-in-law Allyson's baby shower. I hate that I only took a few pictures but here is her cake and Allyson with her cake!

We can't wait for Baby Charlie to arrive. His full name will be Charles Brooks Hooper, named after her Dad Charles and my dad, Randy Brooks. He is due to be here on July 7th, but Allyson is hoping he will come a little early!

Happening Now...

So much is happening right now it is crazy!
First off, I had a wonderful first Mother's Day! I got some beautiful and wonderful gifts from my boys and I got to spend the day with my little man and he was an angel (until that night)!
OK, so David is getting his first tooth! That is why he wasn't such an angel on Sunday night, he was hurting and didn't' want to sleep. We can feel the tooth right under the gum but it hasn't broken through yet. I can't wait for that!
Second, David is a mover and a shaker! He is scooting backwards and moving all over the place. He isn't "crawling" just yet. He is up on all fours rocking then he starts scooting backwards. He will be going forwards in no time! He is also going from his tummy back up to sitting. So no more fussing just because he is on his tummy, he can get back up on his own!
Third, Because David is a mover and a shaker, we have to be extra careful with him. He took a nose dive out of my arms the other day when we were sitting on the front steps of our house, I caught him but not before he scraped his face on the brick step. It was a surface scrape, not a hard deep one, so it is healing quite nicely. I just keep reminding myself that he IS A BOY and this is only the beginning of scrapes, bumps and bruises!
Fourth, I got David a Bubble Mower today so he can hang out with his Pop while he is working in our yard! He likes the bubbles, he just isn't ready to start pushing the mower just yet.
And last but not least, David is babbling and his first words are BaBa. Which is what we call his bottle. His Nana is trying to teach him to say Bye Bye along with it and because it sounds the same, we think he says it too!
David and I are headed to Meridian tomorrow for a fun filled wedding weekend and a Baby Shower for Aunt Allyson and Baby Charlie on Sunday! Look for some fun new pictures!

Family Time at the Maynor's Farm

Friday was such a beautiful day that we decided to take Dixie out to the Maynor's Farm and let her run to get some of her neverending energy out!
Running, Leaping, Running, sniffing, and some more running!
Tounge hanging out because she is hot and tired!
David & Daddy
It was so hot that we decided to stick our feet in the pool.

David checking out all that water!

Splashing the water! Getting Mommy wet!

Daddy decided David needed to stick with tradition and skinny dip in the Maynor's Pool just like his dad used to!
(I think David looks JUST like a boy version of me in this picture!)
Telling me just how cold the water is!

Loving the water now! Check out my hairdo!

(Please ignore my golfing skirt pulled up. Just watch how much fun my kid is having in the pool!)
